The Peripato Gardens are the green heart of the city of Taranto and a source of pride for the city government, which was strongly committed to their restoration and made it a reality. After 20 years of neglect, this enchanting green space, overlooking the blue waters of the Mar Piccolo, has been revitalized.
The public gardens officially became the property of the municipality in 1913, but as early as 1863, the Beaumont family had transformed the existing vegetable gardens into a lush villa. Today, amid the palm trees and lush pines, the colors of seasonal and perennial flowers have returned, along with the symmetry of shrubs and flower beds; the pond is brought to life by ducks and geese, and the playground delights the children.
