The project began with IL ROSONE, a Puglian cultural and informationperiodical inspired by the magnificent rose window of the Cathedral of Troia— the most emblematic architectural feature of Apulian cathedrals. Foundedin Milan in 1978, the magazine was created to promote the image of Pugliaand its people everywhere. This was followed by Edizioni del Rosone and further publications including IlProvinciale, Carte di Puglia, Impegno Forense, Percorsi grafologici and manyothers. At the heart of the project stands Franco Marasca — journalist, lecturer, writer, publisher, patron and cultural animator. Its unifying principle is culture, understood as the set of means through which human beings refine andexpress the many qualities of mind and body: culture as a dream forCapitanata, for Puglia, for the wider world; culture as a southern challenge —rediscovering history, reclaiming roots and restoring the dignity of origins asthe essential premise for future progress.
