Italian Artist Residencies

Artistic projects, monitoring, and agreements to foster creativity

Artist residencies have been an established and recognized institution within the Italian performing arts system since 2014, when a specific provision of the regulations governing the Fondo Unico dello Spettacolo (FUS)—now the Fondo Nazionale dello Spettacolo dal Vivo (FNSV)—defined their mission and institutional framework. Over the years, these residencies have hosted and provided conditions for the emergence and development of a wide range of contemporary artistic projects, facilitated professional networking, stimulated the exchange of ideas and artistic languages between artists and curators, and established observation and monitoring mechanisms, testing and consolidating, within the framework of a State-Regions Agreement, inter-institutional program agreements, through which it has been possible to reconcile territorial differences with the uniformity of the guidelines and procedures adopted.

Puglia Culture provides technical support to the Puglia Region, which coordinates the project at the national level.
